Palace’s Junior Diver Maddie Sweet Wins Bronze at Seven Nations

There is a new crop of world class talented divers emerging from the dive pool at Crystal Palace NSC.

Maddie & Scarlett Pic 2015_IMG_000314 year old Maddie Sweet won a Bronze in Sweden, her first competition for Great Britain, at the Seven Nations Junior International.

Maddie goes to JAGs school in South London and is coached by Olympic coach Chen Wen and Xiangyan Kong.  Team-mate Scarlett Mew Jenson (13) just missed medals by taking two 4th places in the same competition.

Chen said both Maddie and Scarlett have incredible potential, they are very strong in the springboard events and I was pleased with both the bronze and Scarlett’s 4th places in Sweden. With a little more experience the Girls would have been more consistent and could have caught the German. Nine of Palace’s Juniors are next in action at the European Trials in Plymouth next weekend.

Chen Wen and Xiangyan train some of the World’s top Juniors.  Last year Maddie and Scarlet’s team mate, 16 year old Kyle Kothari, won the Junior European Championships and took bronze at the FINA Junior Worlds and 14 year old Noah Williams finish 6th at Junior Worlds in the under 16’s.
