South East Regional Skills 25th March 2012 – Crawley

32 divers competed for Crystal Palace in the South East Region Novice Skills which was the last chance for divers to qualify for Nationals in Southampton in May.

Boys 8 & 9s Jack Schaafsmaa fresh from his silver in London picked up the bronze and William Burke finished 5th for the second time in a week.

Girls 10 & 11s Crystal Palace divers took the top four places, the points being very close. Ciara McGing won by 5 pts over team mates Florence Smith 2nd, Betty Burke 3rd and Anais daly-Gourdiasling 4th.

Boys 10 & 11s Our sole diver Pele Julian scored his National points for the second time and picked up the silver in doing so.

Girls 12 & 13s.  Another strong finish by the Palace Team taking the first five spots.  Abbey Glynn bounced back from her disappointment from the previous week , wining by half a point over Tia Monk 2nd with Rhiannon David Taking 3rd. Alison Roffey and Evie Malin were close behind in 4th and 5th

Boys 12 & 13’s Francis Papworth and Ford Fagan although disappointed, dived well to finish 2nd and 3rd finishing behind Elliot Moorhouse of Southampton.

Girls 14 – 18’s Olivia Jones won by 38 points over Jemma Flack of Star Diving Club.

The Team will now prepare for the ASA National Skills in Southampton on 4th – 6th May…  Good luck divers!
