Junior Elites & European Trails in Plymouth

Eight of our top Junior divers traveled to Plymouth for the 2017 Junior Elite Diving Championships with Coaches Lin Chen and Chris Farrow.  This competition doubled as trials for the Junior European Championship in Burgen at the end of June.

Once again out team proved it’s depth and strength winning eight medals including 2 x Golds, 2 x Silvers and 4 x Bronze.

In the Girls 14/15 High board Crystal Palace divers took all top three spots which was a remarkable feat, for a single team to win all three medals in such a difficult discipline. Furthermore, winner Eden Cheng (the youngest in the competition) set a new British Junior Record for 14 year olds, winning with a dive in hand along with a “record” Junior European Score of 376.10.

Eden was been selected to the Junior European Team in Bergan in Norway in June.

Coaching Director, Chris Snode said this was a tremendous result especially as we are just half way through the season.  Success has been down to dedication, hard work and commitment of all our coaches in particular Lin Cheng (China’s first World Diving Champion) and Chris Farrow, a former British International.

Golds went to Louise Bradley and Eden Cheng who both picked up two silvers too.   Bronze medals were won by Evie Summers, Amielia Connolly and Evie Smith.

Strong placing also went to Josie Zillig (8th, 9th & 11th), Florence Smith (5th & 6th) and Ciara McGing (10th & 12th)
