Lund – Sweden Report 2012

A team of  25 Crystal Palace divers travelled to Lund in Sweden where they put in a truly remarkable performance to win their first International Club Tournament in “fifteen years”.

This was a massive competition with 351 entries from 28 Teams across 9 Nations.  We entered 17 of the 18 events.  Of the 17 events we had 27 finalists taking 18 medals including 5 golds, 6 silvers and 7 bronzes.

Palace won the team title with 265 pts.  Second was Heliopolis from Egypt on 217 pts with Lux2002 in third on 110 pts..  The other two home nations did well with Edinburgh 9th on 55 pts and Beaumont 14th on 38 pts.

Maria Papworth was the first to shine with double golds in youngest girls springboard competitions.  At the opposite end of the age spectrum Georgia Ward won double golds the Women’s 1metre springboard category and women’s platform with a bronze om 3metre.  Our fifth gold came from Palace’s British Team member, Amber Sheppard winning the girls 14-15 yrs 1 metre event.  Amber also picked up a silver on the 3 metre and bronze on platform.  Other medal winners were Noah Williams (silver & bronze), Rosie Cardoe (2 x silvers), Scarlet Mew-Jenson (2 x silvers), Maddie Sweet (2 x bronzes), Grace May (1 x bronze) and Kyle Kotari (1 x bronze)

Places in the top six were also taken by Ella Whiting, Natasha MacManus, Tia Monk, Amelia Connolly and Ella Bullet.

This was a very enjoyable trip and we would like to thank the Jane Moses and Charlotte Mew Jenson for their hard work as team chaperones and also the extra support from the travelling mums.  Also, a big thanks to our team doctor Jenny Lundie.
