Youth Olympic Bronze medallist Georgia Ward is proving herself to be one of Britain’s top Senior Platform divers after two grand prix events, firstly in Canada then in Russia in her first World Grand Prixs.
At the Canada Cup FINA Grand Prix in Gatineau QC, there were 17 divers from ten Nations in the women’s platform event. Georgia had a sensational prelims with a score of 285.35 which progressed her through to the semi finals where she finished 5th just missing out in a spot in the finals.
The experience of the first senior international paid off for Georgia when she moved on to the Russian FINA Grand Prix in Kazan. In the prelim she finished 3rd progressing through to the semi final finishing 2nd with 280.60 points. In the Final she finish 5th behind the two Chinese and Russian divers with 279.25.
The British selectors immediately selected her to the Junior European Team to travel to Poland next month where she will try for her first European Title… Good luck Georgia.
